About

My name is Mandy.

I care a lot about food, where it comes from, and how it is prepared.

I care a lot about community, how it is developed, and how it is maintained.

I care a lot about faith, and how it is integrated into everything else.

This blog is simply a recording of a process that I have found myself in the middle of, a process that seems to be braiding those three items together and will, I believe,  result in a better understanding of the earth, the people in it, and the God that (I believe) created it all.

These are a few of my favorite things.

Glad to read your new blog. I share your struggle and your search for how to eat responsibly. I believe we have to support the grass raising farmers to affect any change at all in the beef industry. So, as best I am able, this is the meat for me. I’m lucky to have access to my own eggs and a big garden. Winters are hard. I don’t put up much and chickens forget to lay when it gets cold and dark.

    • I do adore you chickens! And I completely agree with supporting grass-raising farmers. I certainly do when I can, but balancing that and a budget proves to be difficult sometimes. I often ask myself if I am really putting my money where my mouth is…

And so we soldier on! One season, one farmer, one convert, one egg at a time.
